Mr. Dimes describes himself as a man of many slashes.
He has been called upon in the past to be the following: Illustrator/Writer/Singer/Actor.
This is about the WRITER slash.
In 2001, Mr. Dimes was remarkably ecstatic about
getting his very first novel Coincidissonance
(PublishAmerica),
published.
Coincidissonance
at
its core, is about a Romance/Horror writer gone missing. Surrounding
this core story is a crazed mosaic, a hurricane fury of unusual
characters, and darkly comic situations loosely or strongly tied
to the central theme, depending upon whom the villain is tormenting
at the time. It is 164 pages, and boasts a cover design by John
Dimes himself.
About
Coincidissonance:
“Dreamlike, hypnotic prose that
disturbs and fascinates."
—J.
L. (Judy) Comeau, award winning horror and dark fantasy short story
writer The Borderlands, Hot Blood and Dark Voices anthology series
In
June of 2002, Borders Books and Music hosted his first book signing
for Coincidissonance.
In
2005, Mr. Dimes was again fanned into even greater fires of excitement
with the release of his second book, The
White Corpse Hustle: A Guide for the Fledgling Vampire
(PublishAmerica).
The
White Corpse Hustle: A Guide for the Fledgling Vampire
where
Mr. Dimes claims to have had several conversations with an actual
vampire. The book is described as being a “curious and incognoscible
compendium of all things vampiric. . . .for the most part.”
It got loads of diagrams, and fun facts to be had. It reviewed rather
well:
About
The White Corpse Hustle:
"It's just too funny."
—P.D.
Cacek, Bram Stoker and World Fantasy Award winning author of The
Wind Caller
"John
Dimes has done for vampires, what Douglas Adams did for the galaxy,
in 'The White Corpse Hustle'. It's the new bible for all future
vampire movies. . ."
—Count
Gore Devol, www.countgore.com
“.
. .A fun little read reminiscent of Hitchhikers Guide. . . 4.5 out
of 5 rating.”
—JIVE Magazine
“It’s
a darn fun book. A Critics Pick.”
-Dave Nuttycombe, The Washington City Paper
“Impressive,
with detailed artwork that flows well with the writing.”
—John
Daniels Jr., ComicCritique.com
In
October of 2005—just in time for Halloween—there was
a signing engagement at Big Monkey Comics for “White Corpse
Hustle”.
In
2007. WELL, 2007 was a creatively fertile year for Mr. Dimes. His
works appeared in several anthologies: “Tales
of the Slug” (Windstorm
Creative), “Other
Things, Other Places” (Magus
Press), “The
Sound of Horror” (Magus
Press), and “Diabolic
Tales I: An Anthology of Dark Minds” (Diabolic
Publications). It is important to note that Diabolic
Tales featured an excerpt from his novel Intracations
(DarkHart
Press).
Again,
in 2007, Mr. Dimes was emotionally, and mentally hijacked, i.e.—he
was pleased as punch—to have his Fantasy novel The
Rites of Pretending Tribe (Zumaya
Publications) released on to an unsuspecting world.
The
Rites of Pretending Tribe is the story of the mystical entity Mr.
Home as he encounters the mischievous Flicker, and his retinue of
dream warriors. Warriors who subsist on the energies of sleeping
children. “Rites” is described as a “surreal and
whimsical tale” that explores the themes of misunderstood
youth, and the capacity for compassion for even the most villainous
of characters.
ONCE
AGAIN in 2007, Mr. Dimes’ brainpan practically spun in apoplectic
glee over his unexpected release of his Dark Urban Fantasy, Intracations
(DarkHart Press).
Intracations
is the story of stand-up comic Hiram “Effort” Barnes,
and how his womanizing ways inadvertently becomes the catalyst for
events that may just destroy the whole of all existence.
“Few
people can find something funny about the world coming to an end—John
Dimes, however, is someone. . . .maybe the only one who can. Read
Intracations and weep (with laughter).

Night Prayers.
